IS IT REALLY PERMANENT?
The term ‘permanent makeup’ or ‘semi-permanent makeup’ refer to the exact same cosmetic term—there is absolutely no difference. The cosmetic procedures are considered permanent because pigment is tattooed into the upper reticular part of the dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, as with any type of tattoo or pigment in general, fading can and often does occur, requiring maintenance every 1–3 years depending on each individual’s skin type and lifestyle to keep it looking refreshed and well maintained.
WILL IT FADE?
Fading is inevitable with any semi-permanent makeup as your skin breaks down the pigment over time. We highly recommend annual touch-ups to refresh and maintain your brows, lips or eyeliner. On the plus side, you can make yearly adjustments to the shape or colour, staying up to date with the latest beauty trends.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE REQUIRED?
Two sessions are required for every semi-permanent tattoo procedure here at Phi-moon Beauty. After the first full session, we are able to see how your skin has reacted to the pigment and can perfect it with a final touch up after 6–8 weeks.
HOW LONG DOES SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUPÂ LAST?
After your two sessions, your semi-permanent makeup may last up to 18–24 months but as mentioned above, annual touch ups are highly recommended. The longevity can also be affected by other factors such as your lifestyle, skin type (thin or oily skin intends to fade quicker), environmental factors, sun exposure etc. We recommend a healthy lifestyle, no exfoliation or retinol on the areas and minimal sun exposure. The results of the treatment will be different for each and every individual and cannot guarantee the length of longevity.
WHY AM I GETTING COLD SORE OUTBREAKS AFTER MY LIP BLUSHING PROCEDURE?
Please be aware there may be some risks of irritation after a Lip Blushing treatment, most commonly cold sore outbreaks. It is easily treatable but it is important to follow the aftercare instructions provided after your treatment. To help minimise cold sores, we recommend taking Lysine daily before your procedure. You may also see your GP or a pharmacy for advice.
CAN I STILL HAVE A SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP TATTOO DONE IF I'M PREGNANT/BREASTFEEDING?
We do not recommend having a semi-permanent makeup procedure while you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are breastfeeding, you may have a semi-permanent makeup procedure done without any numbing cream. Please talk to us if you have any further questions.
WILL MY BROWS STOP GROWING AFTER A BROW TREATMENT?
Age, over tweezing, scars, chemotherapy, alopecia, etc. are factors which can affect your natural hair growth. Semi-permanent brow makeup does not, as we only deposit the pigment into the first layer of your skin.
I'VEÂ JUST HAD BOTOX/FILLER INJECTION, CAN I STILL HAVE AÂ SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP TATTOO?
Yes, you may have a semi-permanent makeup tattoo done four weeks before or after you have/had your botox/filler injection done.
